It Will Cost You

Sis, I know it has been a while but I could not, not share this on

today! As I was in a study about rocks I came across Exodus 17: 6-8

Numbers 20:7-8, 11.

Backstory: We know the children of Israel had a reputation for complaining while in the wilderness. As their leader, Moses would bring their complaints to God, petitioning Him for provision. In these particular scriptures, the people were parched! But what 1 really want to highlight is God's instructions and Moses' ability (or inability) to follow them. In Exodus 17:6, God told Moses to strike the rock, and water would flow. But in Numbers 20:7-11, the instruction changed, God told Moses to speak to the rock and water would flow. By this time we Moses was clearly frustrated with the people. Instead of obeying God's command to speak, he struck the rock again. That one moment of disobedience cost him, he was not allowed to enter the Promised Land.

What worked in one season may not be God's instruction for you in the next. Familiarity & complacency can lead you to do more work than necessary. Worse, they can cause you to miss out on God's promise for your life. Just because something worked before doesn't mean it's what God is calling you to do now.

Yes, the people will still be blessed, but again, what will it cost you?
